Combolands Gold: How to Farm It
Where gold comes from
| Source | What the source says | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial buildings | Gold Pan and Vineyard are the two named as the guild’s early gold, plus buildings that generate the coins you spend in the shop. | Community guide; Best & Worst Guild thread |
| Merchant councillor | Buying a vote costs 3 gold; the vote gives 5. Repeatable, and the fastest documented way to build a pile. | Rogues unlock guide |
| Manure, when removed | Triggers when removed: +1 Gold (demo-era wording). | Demo v9 patch notes |
| Council request rewards | Requests pay out on completion, and the reward is shown before you accept. | Rogues unlock guide; in-game screenshots |
| Heirloom sales | Selling heirlooms returns value, and since v1.0.6 unsold heirlooms also count toward the final gold score. | v1.0.6 patch notes |
What gold costs you
| Action | Cost | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Buying a vote (with Merchant) | 3 gold | Net +2 in vote value — the trade that makes the 75-gold request feasible. |
| Dismiss in the shop | 3 gold | Reduced from 5 in demo v9. |
| First Council Request refresh | Free | Added in v1.0.6, 2026-08-28. |
| Further quest refreshes | Rising | Refreshing quest selection with gold gets more expensive each time (demo v9). |
The 75-gold milestone, in practice
The guide that documented the Rogues unlock recommends running Martial + Commercial for it. Commercial supplies buildings that grant gold; Martial supplies the removal triggers that fire those buildings again after they are already placed. Its two named picks for the opening are the Ballista and the Gold Pan. Layer the Merchant's 3-for-5 vote trade on top and the target stops being the hard part of the run.
Gold is not score — with one exception
Buildings that produce gold usually do not produce score, which is why a multiplier on a Vineyard looks wasted. The exception, from a launch-week thread: there is a relic that applies mult to gold gain, and with that relic the multiplier is doing real work. More on that on the scoring page and in the heirlooms list.
At the end of a run there is also a separate gold score, and as of v1.0.6 it takes heirloom sell values into consideration — so a full heirloom shelf is no longer worth nothing at the final tally.
